Dutch figurative painter based in Utrecht.

I paint what being human feels like.

I’m drawn to vulnerability, emotion and the little things that are easy to overlook. I try to capture not just what a moment looks like, but how it feels.

Why Jonna Freya?

I’ve always loved Scandinavia and Nordic mythology, especially the stories and symbolism surrounding female strength and empowerment.

Freya is a Nordic goddess associated with both love and war. A combination that somehow feels fitting for my artistic journey: softness and strength, vulnerability and courage.

And honestly, I just love how Jonna Freya sounds. ;)

My work

I work primarily with acrylics and oils on canvas, creating figurative paintings inspired by real people, memories and everyday life.

Some paintings remain one-of-a-kind originals. Others become prints, so that the moments I capture can find their way into more homes.

I also take on selected commissions, creating personal paintings from meaningful moments and memories.
